THE CHANNEL ISLANDS to Brittany

Condor have boats running between the islands and France on several days of the week in winter and everyday in the season.  The Condor 10 runs between Jersey and France and there are sailings between the UK and France going via Guernsey and Jersey.  First class facilities on all boats and dedicated children's play area with films showing.

Channel Islands to Portsmouth

 

The catarmarans take approximately 4 hours from France to England, 3 hours from Jersey to England and 2 hours from Guernsey to England.  It takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes between Jersey and France. There are hot meals from the Counter at the Cafeteria on the Condor Express and Vitesse, hot snacks on the Condor 10 and full sit down restaurant facilities on the Goodwill.  The Goodwill has passenger cabins and the other vessels have first class sections and reclining seats.

 

COMPAGNIE CORSAIRE

 

From June 2007 this company offers foot passenger transport between April and September. The company has been offering pleasure cruises and transport around the Brittany Coast, along the River Rance and as a "sea bus" between destinations such as Dinard and St. Malo since 1904 and have now added a route between St. Malo and Jersey.   They run from the  Gare maritime de la Bourse in St Malo to the Albert Pier in St. Helier.  They are bringing a new boat on for this new route and the journey time is one hour twenty minutes.

 

 

HDFERRIES

 

New on the route from March 2007.  Regular runs from Guernsey and Jersey to Saint Malo in high speed catamaran (one hour only) which carries passengers and cars.  HD1 is their first boat and this starts its travel on March 15 2007.  There are Duty Free sales on board, Cafeteria facilities and bar.  The ship carries 400 passengers.

Manche Iles Express have two high speed, passenger carrying only catamarans  called the Marine Marie and the Victor Hugo. Le Tocqueville, which is a monohull and thus capable of sailing in heavier seas has just joined the fleet.  The boats travel from the Albert Pier in the port of St. Helier in Jersey and also from Gorey Harbour to Normandy and also the other islands of Guernsey, Alderney and Sark.  These are comfortable high speed boats.

Routes are from Granville, Carteret, Dielette to Jersey and Guernsey and they boats also travel inter ilsand to Alderny, Sark and Herm.

Brittany Ferries    

Several boats travel between Portsmouth and destinations such as Caen, Cherbourg, Roscoff and St. Malo.  Boats are very luxurious.  Restaurants are worth a mention as the company is French and  the menus are cooked in that style.  There is a serve yourself buffet on some boats which is of an amazingly high standard.  On board entertainment, disco and cinemas.

 

 

Condor  -  Sailings between both Portsmouth and Weymouth and France going via the Channel Islands stopping off to dock and unload in Guernsey and then to dock and unload in Jersey.  Also Channel Islands to France. Conventional ferry sails once a week from England again via Channel Islands.

LD Lines

Travel between Le Havre and Portsmouth

More bargain priced crossings. Between July 1sland September 15th 2006 a car and 2 passengers were able to travel to England on a 3 day return for £75.00 

 

Norfolk Line

Car Ferries and Freight between Dunkirk and Dover During 2006 a single fare for car plus 9 people is £19.00

P & O   

Dover to Calais.  Excellent first class lounges.  Some wonderful travel deals can be found. During summer 2006 a day trip from Dover to Calais was £30.00 for a car and 9 passengers

 

Seafrance

First class travel is amazing and there are many sailings in the winter and some excellent deals particularly on day returns.  Price example  for a 3 day return Calais Dover, car and 2 passengers during June 2006 non flexi is 50 euros.

 

SpeedFerries

Running between Dover and Boulogne, this is a new company who commenced operations in Spring 2004.  They offer a revolutionary fare structure - no special offers, just cheap fares and prices increase the closer to the sailing time.  There are no price differences on returns, no matter how long the traveller stays away. They take cars only and the average price of a single for a car and 5 people was £19.00  in 2006.  The crossing takes just 50 minutes. 

 

Transmanche

Travelling between Dieppe and Newhaven.  Up until September 2006 a car and 5 passengers were able  travel on a 3 day return for £50.
