The Maltess - Sailing Restaurant - arrives at Port Lyvet
The latest venture of entrepreneur Lionel Audouÿs who has run river trips from Dinan to Lehon on the Jaman IV for some years, the Maltess is a floating restaurant, bar and cruise boat sailing up the River Rance to Dinan and back from Port Lyvet.
The two and a half hour trip includes a meal with aperitif and wine. Simple trips without a meal are also available.
The boat can also be booked for functions such as weddings, special parties or group trips.
Lionel has struggled hard for permission to start the floating restaurant and has finally succeeded and although he would have ideally liked the boat to be moored in the Port at Dinan it is instead moored at Port Lyvet on the opposite side of the bank to the L'Effet Mer from where the boat sails towards Dinan and back. The boat was brought up to Brittany from St Jean de Losne, further south and has been completely refurbished, starting running in July 2010. Sylvie Le Normand, the previous owner, has stayed as part of the crew It takes 110 passengers and offers 70 restaurant places.
