Speedferries have started running between Dover and Boulogne.  They are  a new company who commenced operations in Spring 2004. 

They offer a revolutionary fare structure - no special offers,  just cheap fares and prices start off low and only increase as the time gets closer to the sailing. It pays to book early.  There are no price differences on returns, no matter how long the traveller stays away. They take cars and accompanying passengers only and claim to offer the fastest ferry crossing between Britain and France from just £50 for a return ticket for a standard car including 5 passengers. 

Their ferry is called "SpeedOne" and is an 86 metre second-generation wave-piercing catamaran capable of taking up 200 cars and 800 passengers

The facilities on board are  a spacious lounge with airline seating, Café, Coffee and wine bar, Spacious sundeck , Travel retail shop, Children's Play Area and a Gaming Area for children.

In addition to Premier Class, where the passenger is offered seat service, refreshments and newspapers plus that joy - priority embarkation and disembarkation, Speedferries offer a Family Class section.  The Family Class section fare costs fractionally more than the normal fare but gives parents peace of mind as this is a designated family area, with automatic table reservations and video entertainment for the children
