Monet's
House at Giverny The house and garden created by Claude Monet
Visiting the home of Claude Monet is one of the most
memorable experiences. The impressionist painter took a great
delight in his gardens and was entranced by the lilies in the small lake
which he painted way into his old age. The garden
changes with the
seasons and was skilfully planted so that the displays are at their best.
The roses are magnificent. The house itself is small but really
beautiful and unique in its colour schemes. One could visit this
again and again. Also at Giverny there is the Musee d'Art American
surrounded by entrance free gardens Open daily except Mondays
from 9.30 am to 6.00 pm from 2d of March 2003 to 30th of November 2003.
and the Ancien hôtel Baudy, Rue Claude Monet.
The hotel housed the many American painters who came to Giverny following
Monet. The hotel is surrounded by gardens and entrance is free to
customers. The hotel dining room is still decorated in the same style as
it was during the years the artists met there
Open daily except Mondays from 10am to 9pm from 1st of April to 31st
of October.www.fondation-monet.com
